  • The competition is restricted to affiliated athletes to a National Triathlon Federation born in 1998 and before.
  • Non-affiliated athletes, in accordance with the National Triathlon Federation regulations, can apply for a daily membership for the individual competition for EUR 30.00, and a daily one for the relay races for EUR 15.00 together with the submission of an italian Agonistic Medical Certificate for the Triathlon (required by FiTri)

The above-mentioned provision applies both to the individual competition and the team races (relay).

  • Entries close April 05th, 2018. No changes or modifications will be accepted after this date.

General conduct conditions

  • It is important that all competitors exhibit good behaviour and sportsmanlike conduct, and treat fellow competitors, event organisers, volunteers and collaborators with courtesy and respect. Failure to do so may result in disqualification at any time before, during or after the event.

Ours is a special sport: let’s make it such!

  • Even though running and cycling courses will be closed to public vehicular access, emergency and official event vehicles might be present along the course. All road rules and regulations must therefore be followed at all times, particularly regarding the direction restriction imposed for vehicles and right hand drive rule.
  • Any competitor who fails to obey the above-mentioned rules will be removed from the event and disqualified by the Competition Referees. He/she might complete the course in any case alleging the right of plea based on the own complaints and reasons, following the official procedure for appeals.
  • No competitor may use any banned substances with the intent to improve their performance, eliminate the sense of fatigue or for any other purpose. Doping tests could be performed; a positive test will result in disqualification.
  • Provided race numbers must be visible at all times throughout the race and placed according to the instructions provided in the Race Kit.
  • The COMPULSORY race briefing will take place Saturday, April 14th, 2018, both in English and Italian language.
  • No headphones or headsets may be worn during the competition. Any violation of this rule shall result in disqualification.
  • Challenge Roma753 competitors may not compete with a bare torso or under no respectable conditions.
  • Each competitor must be familiar with the entire course and the event regulations. It is each competitor responsibility to follow the correct route according to the information in the Race Manual and the event official site.
  • Any protests must be submitted to the Jury according to the procedures and schedule established by the National Triathlon Federation.
  • If a competitor withdraws from the event, they must advise the course officials of their withdrawal immediately. Any competitor failing to do so and being the subject of a resulting search and rescue operation will incur all costs relating to this exercise if they are found to be in their accommodation or other such safe place.
  • Under bad weather conditions, Challenge Roma reserves the right to switch the event to a duathlon in order to ensure the safety of the competitors. Should this happen, the registration fee will not be refunded.
  • Challenge Rome reserves the right to modify at any time the regulations, event programme and/or locations of the event. Any change(s) will be advised to all participants at the earliest possible time.

Swim Rules
Equipment:

The organizer will provide a swim cap that should be worn in a correct way during both the warming up phase and the competition in itself. Any violation of this rule shall result in disqualification.

The use of wetsuits will be determined based on water temperature and security conditions by the F.I.Tri Jury.

Swim goggles or facemasks may be worn. No fins, paddles, snorkels, flotation devices of any kind are permitted.

  • During the swimming segment, the staff in situ is exclusively responsible for safety reasons. Each athlete must be familiar with the entire course and it is an individual responsibility to follow the correct route.
  • Any assistance required during the swimming segment may result in disqualification
  • Event organizers have the right to change the location of the swim course, the distance of the swim course or cancel the swim course (at their absolute discretion) taking into account the weather and water temperature conditions.

Bike Rules
Equipment:

  • All bikes must undergo a compulsory check by the official technical support in the lead up to the race or at check-in. Only checked bikes will be allowed into transition.

Each participant is responsible for the state or repair of his/her own bike. Each bicycle should be in compliance with the technical regulations.

  • All participants and teams should set their bikes within the time limits stipulated by the organizer – No exceptions will be made for this provision.
  • Only helmets approved by a national accredited testing will be accepted. The helmet must be securely fastened at all times when the athlete is in possession of the bike, which means from the time they remove their bike from the rack at the start of the bike leg, until after they have placed their bike on the rack at the finish of the bike leg.
  • Provided race numbers cannot be modified in size or shape and should be visible at all times in the back.
  • No Drafting allowed:

The cycle draft zone  for is a 12 meter  long and 3 meter wide rectangle between the front edge of the lead cycle and the front edge of the following cycle), extending each side of the cycle by 3 metre, measured from the leading edge of the front wheel. Another athlete has 20 seconds to pass through that zone. Likewise, once an athlete is passed they have 5 seconds to drop back out of the draft zone.
